The IFRRO Board has made the decision to cancel the 2020 International World Congress (IWC). IFRRO will hold its 2020 Annual General Meeting on the 4th November 2020 as a remote event. .
The decision to cancel the IWC was a difficult one, as we know how much the IFRRO community values the opportunity to gather, network and discuss important issues in collective management. We also know how much our members and stakeholders value the opportunity to engage with emerging technological and legal challenges at the International Conference, held as part of the IWC.
In the midst of a global pandemic, it is impossible to predict with any certainty when the epidemic will have run its course, as it is affecting different regions of the world at different times. The Board is also concerned about the adverse economic impact of the crisis on CMOs and the rightsholders they represent and serve. These considerations have led to the conclusion that it would be unwise for IFRRO to plan a major international event at all this year.
We are very hopeful that we can return to the usual meeting schedule in 2021. We are delighted that CLASS extends an invitation to us all to join them in Singapore for the 2021 IWC and we look forward very much to the current situation being behind us and to welcoming all to Singapore for the 2021 IWC.
