IFRRO side event at the 24th SCCR WIPO meetings

On 19 July, in conjunction with the 24th meeting of the WIPO Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR), IFRRO will organise a side event for the SCCR delegates on access to copyright works in education. A main purpose is to show how RROs assist educational communities, as well as authors and publishers, in enabling usage of intellectual property in various formats.

In a fast changing world where technologies move with an unprecedented speed regulations do not have the ability to offer the required flexibility. Agreements with rightholders and RROs do. This is what we will demonstrate at the side event, which will include contributions from IAF (International Authors Forum), IPA (International Publishers Association) and the RROs in Australia, Burkina Faso, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Mexico, Poland, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the UK and U.S.A, in addition to the IFRRO President and CEO.

At the side event we will also offer a demonstration of ARROW, the European Commission sponsored tool developed jointly by libraries, authors, publishers and RROs for the automated identification of rights, rightholders and works that have helped libraries and others involved in such searches save substantial time and resources.
