IFRRO Launches Second “Re:start Conversations” Event With EVA, EWC And FEP

On 16 June, IFRRO launched the second ‘Re:start conversations’ event, together with our partners EVA, EWC and FEP, entitled “Investing in a high-quality digital education ecosystem is investing in democracy” (see the programme here).

In their opening speeches, Victor Negrescu MEP and Georgi Dimitrov from the European Commission (DG EAC) discussed the work of the European Parliament and Commission in the field of digital education. Our expert panelists - Maïa Bensimon (Vice President EWC), Raffaele Grandi, CEO of Edi.Ermes S.r.l, Milan, Italy (at FEP’s invitation), artist and writer Kate Mayne (at EVA’s invitation) and Anders Kristian Rasch (Copydan Writing) - discussed what goes into producing innovative, high-quality, independent educational materials; what authors, publishers, visual artists and CMOs have learnt from the Covid-19 crisis; and how the needs of a democratic society can be met, as well as those of writers, illustrators and publishers in the education sector.

Dr. Igor Pesek, head of unit for digital education at the Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sport, then discussed the priorities of the upcoming Slovenian Presidency of the Council of the EU in the field of education, as well as some relevant upcoming events. The event concluded with some closing remarks from the Chair, IFRRO President Yngve Slettholm.

We thank our co-organisers EVA, EWC and FEP, all the speakers and Yngve Slettholm, for contributing to the success of this very interesting event.
