WIPO releases the publication “Collective Management of Text and Image based Works”
"Collective Management of Text and Image-based Works" has just been published by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Written by Ms Tarja Koskinen-Olsson, a well-known international adviser and expert in copyright management and related rights in different creative fields, it updates the earlier 2005 edition, providing an overview of collective copyright management in the text and image sectors, as well as insights into the legislative framework and national operational systems in different countries. The primary goal of the publication is “to offer information to policymakers considering appropriate legislative responses to widespread copying and communication in society.” It is also a tool for practitioners of intellectual property rights and offers an overview to persons working in Collective Management Organizations, as well as users of works and other stakeholders.
Tarja Koskinen-Olsson expresses her thanks to IFRRO CEO Caroline Morgan for her invaluable collaboration, and the members of IFRRO for providing examples of operational systems in their countries.
The publication is expected to be translated into all UN languages by the end of 2023. To read or download the publication in English, please click here.
